Unfortunately some slight audio latency issues inherent to the digital-only design of current-gen consoles means that Rocksmith 2014 for PS4 and Xbox One is slightly inferior overall to its last-gen and PC counterparts, but not by much. The other programs starting to fail to launch after troubleshooting this product may just be coincidental, but it's a strange (and imo unlikely) coincidence, but I'm not even holding that against Ubisoft I'll just be happy when I can play the game and the rest of my computer operates as it did before I spent a not-insignificant amount of money on the damn thing (none of which I could get back, as neither my digital Steam copy of RS2014 nor my opened, activated physical copy of RS1 are returnable at this point- not that I want to return them).The self-proclaimed fastest way to learn the guitar has slid knee-first onto the current-gen stage, and although it doesnвЂ™t bring much in the way of new features, its resolution bump and support for existing DLC libraries facilitates a smooth transition for existing players looking to shift their interactive guitar practice sessions onto shiny new hardware. Like I said, all I wanna do is learn to play my bass better.

I just paid $120 USD for this product (including the physical copy of RS1 to get the cable, not including the extra $10 for the disc import tool to grab the songs from it), and I'd really, really like for it to function. I clicked on Rocksmith 2014 in Steam for the first time, which in turn launched UPlay, which I apparently already had an account for despite me being unable to remember the last Ubisoft game I played on PC, and eventually launched the game. If I get the game to launch I may be posting another question about the game not picking up any guitar sounds). It took a long time for my Win 7 PC to recognize the cable, but it did, and when I plucked some strings it appeared to recognize sound coming in (although playing it while recording via the Windows sound recorder didn't produce anything even close to audible.

I dusted off my bass guitar- poor thing hadn't been touched in years I've been a neglectful musician- and plugged it into the proprietary Ubisoft cable thing. Both are activated on Steam, but only RS 2014 is installed. I recently purchased RS 2014 on Steam, along with a physical copy of RS1 (to get the cable and to justify spending the extra $10 on Steam to enable the ability to get all the RS1 songs) at a brick and mortar store.
