However, it doesn't lower the strength requirement nearly as much. Upgrading equipment items other than artifacts works similarly to upgrading in vanilla PD. Missile weapons are now also considered equipment and can be upgraded. These items provide little direct power in combat, but leveling them up doesn't cost scrolls of upgrade. There are many new items (especially weapons) to increase variety and a whole new category of equipment has been added: Artifacts. However, all equipment categories have received large changes to improve overall balance of the game. Just like in vanilla PD, equipment is still the main source of the Hero's power.
